Paddle Tasmania - About Us

Paddle Tasmania is a not-for-profit organisation operating under Paddle Australia that exists to promote, support and coordinate all levels and all types of paddlesport and safety in Tasmania.

Tasmania has easy access to many natural rivers with water levels that can be controlled by hydroelectric power. Being an island state, we are surrounded by coastal waters and therefore one of Australia’s premier paddle destinations.

Paddle Tasmania operates under Paddle Australia, and we pride ourselves with high quality instructors that can meet the diverse needs of our paddling community.

We run skills based kayaking courses for beginners, intermediate and advanced kayakers, including more bespoke courses and events focusing on specific skills such as scouting, river running, expedition planning, precision through slalom, and specific recreational water releases.

We run qualification courses through the Paddle Australia Qualification Scheme (PAQS) such as flatwater, packrafting, and white-water guide/instructor, enclosed and sea guide/instructor, swift water rescue, and a number of coaching qualifications and custom training.

Our courses are delivered by a passionate and experienced team of instructors and staff, who are some of Tasmania’s absolute best. Many of our instructors are also commercial industry leaders, giving you the opportunity to meet your potential employer while gaining your qualification.

Tasmania is home to accessible and world-renowned rivers offering class I – V river rapids; this unique environment means there is something for everyone. Whether you are looking for a career in paddling or wanting to explore our unique wilderness and improve your skills, come and join us paddling some of the world’s best and remote wilderness areas.
